India wins 21 golds at SAG


India’s medal tally on the penultimate day of the South Asian games stands at 88 gold, 53 silver and 29 bronze medals taking the country’s total medal haul to 170.

Indian Boxers Amandeep, Suranjoy Singh and Chote Lal won golds in Light fly weight , Fly weight and Feather weight categories.

In 50 M Breaststroke Arjun Jayaprakash won the gold with a new meet record. Shubha Chittaranjan won her second gold in the 50M Freestyle and Sneha Thirugnanasambandam won the silver. The Indian men and women’s team also won the gold in 4x 100 metre medley.

The Indian womens football team also won the gold defeating Nepal 3-1 in the final. In taekwondo, India won one gold, one silver and two bronze in addition to three bronze in Karate.

Reshmi Bose and Prajusha could only manage a silver and bronze in women’s long jump.

Sunil Kumar and Mohammed Yunus won a gold and silver in the men’s 5000 metre race.

Both the men and women’s team won the gold in the 4x400 metre relay.
